Upgrade Time...

I'm at this awkward transition phase for my business. Lots of changes (which I've been putting off way too long) have been going on in the last month. For hardware, I've upgraded from my old Dell 15 inch laptop (2.2 dual-core, 4 gig RAM, 500 GB HDD) to a new custom tower (i7, 8 gig RAM, 2 TB HDD) and 23 inch screen. Had to install everything from scratch, but it was a good learning experience. I'm in the process of completely overhauling my workflow from Adobe Bridge to Adobe Lightroom 3. Still trying to get the hang of catalogs, presets, and all that fancy stuff, but it's coming along slowly. I'm also planning on selling my aging zoom lenses (17-50 & 80-200) to upgrade to the Nikon AF-S equivalents. My business has come to the point where I need lenses that I can rely on all the time, instead of most of the time.

On top of that, I've b
een shooting A LOT. And even that is an understatement. By the end of this week, I'll have a dozen shoots in my editing pool, a third of which are weddings. Whew.

Lots of work, lots of money, and lots of changes going on at once, but it's all gotta happen to move forward!

But awesome you got a new computer! Hopefully it'll make editing a whole lot better/easier than on the laptop.

I always feel like editing on my laptop is so much more different than on a desktop.

Good luck with everything! don't get too worn out!
