It's really amazing what you can do with photography. Isle Media recently partnered up with AccesSurf, a non-profit organization that gives children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy surfing and water recreation. The organization holds monthly events at the beach, drawing disabled participants and their families for an afternoon of fun and recreation. This past weekend, a team of us went out to White Plains Beach to document the February event. It was quite an eye-opening experience for all of us! Just to see the excitement and joy in the eyes of the participants as they got to surf or play in the water really hit home. We take things like being able to walk or swim for granted, because it's something that we can do on a regular basis. But when you see someone who is so stoked just to be able to sit on a surfboard, or float in the water because they couldn't do so otherwise without assistance, it really makes you think twice about what you have in your life...
