Jen and Khoa Married!

This past August, I had the honor of shooting Jen and Khoa's wedding in Oregon! Jen and I took photography classes together when we were at Pacific U, and I was extremely stoked when she booked me shortly after I graduated (May 2010) to shoot her wedding! Aside from  having an amazing venue (a vineyard!), Jen and Khoa had the most unique theme to their wedding: martial arts! As dedicated martial artists, Jen and Khoa did a wonderful job of weaving their passion into their wedding, from the cake decorations to the first dance.

It was great to have Justin McRobert, a good friend, and a talented wedding photographer himself, second shoot for me during the wedding. His images are included in this post with mine. Thanks J!

Jen and Khoa...you guys were awesome to work with, from the engagement photos to the final moments of the wedding. I'm very excited for your new lives together :D

trapped in a wine glass :)

This shot was playing to reflection theme that I had going on during Jen and Khoa's E-session.

The Elk's Cove!! This was my first time in Oregon during the summer, and man it was HOT.

Inspired by an image I saw from David Lau while second shooting for him a few months ago. David also let me borrow his Nikkor 17-55 f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8 VRII for Jen and Khoa's wedding. Thanks David!!

A technical note: this is my first wedding completely edited in Lightroom 3!!!

A first in weddings, and definitely original :D

the sun was a bit strong for some people...

After Master Dan symbolically tied the black belt around Jen and Khoa, they made into a heart to close the ceremony...I love originality like this :)

some fun during formals :)

In a rush to get the food.

hands down, the best First Dance I've ever seen :)

Congratulations you two!

  2. Wow! What an amazing way to look back on our day! Thank you so much, Reese! You and Justin were lots of fun, and did an awesome job! I particularly love the silhouetted dress. It's just awesome that you made it black and white, because I feel a little bit like I'm looking at a negative on a light table. It has a classic look about it.
